This tour is 10 days long not including travel time to and from Ireland. This tour is based in charming Clifden city with day trips to sites throughout Counties Clare, Galway, and Mayo. Tour guide, Dave Hogan, is an academic ecologist, and wildlife biologist. He is one of Ireland's best guides with keen interest in the early history of Ireland and mythology. He is fluent in the Irish language and a musician who has contributed to several CD's.
Tour guide, Garry Jones, an artist and musician, has composed music based on the ancient spiritual capitals of the provinces of Ireland. His intimate knowledge of these areas and music is often shared with travelers on Music Nights and at Brigit's Garden where he also constructed a large-scale "Temple of the Wind".
Travelers will visit ancient and historical sites seldom seen. Travelers will be introduced to a variety of landscape features, including the bog and burren regions, holy wells, Bronze age stone circles, and ring forts. Travels include two boat trips to remote islands with ancient monastic sites, leisurely time in the city of Galway, Claddagh Village, Kylemore Abby and Gardens, Maamturk Mountains, Connemara National Park, 13th Century Cong Abby and Monk's Fishing House, Cliffs of Moher, Brigit's Garden and more! Special events include Music Night with festive dinner, and a Medieval Banquet in Bunratty Castle. Meet artists, writer/poet, historian/storyteller, and musicians. Visit pubs and craft shops. Each day's tour begins late morning and ends mid-afternoon, giving ample time to reflect, walk back roads on your own. Limited to 14 travelers.
